Cross Country in Fuyang
XC-Fuyang 2011

XC means Cross Country, in other words: to fly as far as possible. Cross Country is a passion, is a dialogue with the nature and a competition with ourself. I fly better when i fly alone, other people are not able to fly long distance alone, they need to fly in small groups, to follow each other. My Personal record in the Alps is 170 km (XCONTEST track). From Bassano (Italy) to Tolmin (Slovenia), with that flight i won the XC-Bassano 2008 (Italian name: Cross del Grappa). Flying in the Alps is not like flying in Australia, Brasil or in South Africa (one thermal and go). I had to find almost 60 thermals to arrive in Slovenia. I did this Flight with my Artik DHV 2 and as long as i know it's still the only not competition paraglider that arrived in Slovenia from Bassano.

Here i created a sort of small contest to try to rise the level of the area, and to try to wake up myself from my laziness... Fuyang doesn't have high mountains, but potentially it's possible to fly longer than 100 km. We are not professional pilots (also if somebody think to be...), we just enjoy, and a real pilot here (someone like Hofer or Maurer) in a good day could fly 200 km.

The contest is opened to everybody who wants to partecipate. So if you want to be included just send me an email. I'll try to improve this page, but right now i don't have so much time.

LiveTrack24

New LIVE system

Now you can track some pilots while they are flying. This is for both safety and fun. A service by LiveTrack24

Down there is a list of pilots names, for example mau968 (me). If the pilot is flying the led close to the name will blink and you could read mau968 is live, clicking on the name will take you to a Google Map page where you can see the position of the pilot updating live in 2D or in 3D. Unfortunately Google Maps has been stopped by Chinese Government., so if you don't have a VPN i suggest to click on the text page link, and from there you can open Google Earth and follow the pilot by this software, which at this moment is still not been blocked.

Maurizio Romano flew 75 km. The winner of the XC contest

April 27 2013
New XC-Fuyang record, Maurizio flew 75 km with his great GRADIENT ASPEN 4, (distance from the takeoff 70 km), from Yong An Shan to north of Hangzhou (almost Huzhou). The last hill was full of powerlines and the most conservative route cost to Maurizio 30 km that he could not fly... if he was just a little more aggressive... The Grandpa took out from the hat this flight just because the guys are growing up and motivated him... What could Vadim fly with a Gradient Nevada? for sure more than 100 km. 3 hours of flight, 6 hours going back to the hill by public transportation and taxi. Thank to the help of the kind local people who saw a glider arriving from nowhere... Their smile was the first prize. Come on guys, tomorrow should be better than today, it is the last day of good weather before the front come. Unstable weather perfect for thermals and base to 3000 meters... Give me some more motivation...
